Winners return to defend their titles. The entry list is growing with a strong line-up of local and international boats already signed-up for 2014, including a number of past-winners who are back to defend (or reclaim) titles.


Last year’s Firefly 850 class winner, Twin Sharks, and past-winner Moto Inzi are both back to reignite rivalries. Regular Raceweek competitor Stuart Williamson, who placed second in IRC Racing II last year, is back for another attempt at the title on his Skandia Endeavour of Whitby, while other regulars confirmed include Ruby Tuesday and Grenville Fordham’s Nina, another past Raceweek-winner.

Leading a crew from the Metung Yacht Club in Australia to Raceweek for the first time last year was Terry Grundy, who is returning again on the chartered BeauX Esprit. They are joined by another Australian crew chartering Kinnon.

Looking for some excitement. Hop on a Thai International flight to Phuket. There are boat races there you won’t forget. With strong winds, the fleet at the 10th Anniversary Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek enjoyed some fast and furious racing today off Panwa Cape on Phuket’s southeast coast. Winds exceeding 15 knots, combined with 2-3 metre swells, made for perfect Phuket sailing conditions on Day One of the award-winning regatta.


Classic and IRC Cruising classes raced a single, long ’round-the-islands’ course, enjoying the strong breeze and scenery in equal measure, while the two IRC Racing classes and two multihull classes completed two races to get their series underway.

Coming into its tenth year, Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek comprises four days of world-class yacht racing and four nights of beachside parties.
